Applications are invited for the post of Parish Clerk to Ansford Parish Council

This is an interesting and challenging position where you would be supporting an active and community-focused Parish Council.

The post is part time to be worked flexibly on the annualised average of 4 hours per week. You will be required to attend evening meetings on the 2nd Wednesday each month, for ten months of the year, and to attend ad hoc meetings as required.

Duties include – scheduling and co-ordinating meetings, preparing meeting agendas and supporting papers, attending and providing advice at meetings, taking minutes and completing administrative actions/correspondence arising. The Parish Clerk is responsible for the upkeep of the Parish Council web pages and uploading the community magazine.

Knowledge of local authority can be learned whilst in post and through external training if appropriate. The council has split the role of Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer and already employs an experienced RFO.

The post holder will work from home and should have access to room/desk space, file storage space and a broadband connection. An office allowance is made against this. The Clerk is reimbursed for all consumable expenses that arise. You will be given a mobile phone.

The conditions of employment and remuneration will be based on the National Association of Local Council’s recommendations and contract. The starting salary will be by negotiation, based on skills and experience and subject to PAYE as applicable, scale SCP 7-17 (current rates £13.69 to £16.08, national pay rise pending for this year).

Good literacy, numeracy, communication and IT skills are essential to the position as are the personal qualities of integrity, discretion, objectivity and impartiality.
