Due to an act of vandalism, one of the windows of the bus shelter was smashed, and an order for a replacement is being actioned.
The road is now closed for a period of up to 74 days, for major repairs to an underground sewer, and all vehicular traffic will be diverted. However, pedestrians can continue to walk to/from the town centre using a temporary asphalted footway.
On 10th April 2026, a timber pedestrian bridge was found to have been vandalised, and as a safety precaution, it has been demolished by Somerset Council's Rights of Way officers. The Right of Way ref no is WN2/4, ref Bridge no 11557, Issue #86244, situated near Torbay Road. Grid ref 363223.132652
GWR have installed a temporary ticket/information office whilst extensive works are carried out to the building, starting on 23rd February, during a 12 week program to reinstate the original entrance/exit and the installation of new heritage style seating, lighting and enhanced signage.
