Information on the Caryford Community Hall
Caryford Community Hall Trustees approached Ansford Parish Council and Castle Cary Town Council to consider applying for a Public Works Loan to help fund the Phase 2 extension of Caryford Hall. The application has been approved by the Board, the two Councils will now make the funds available to Caryford Hall, and the repayments for the loan would commence. (the part of the Council Tax that is managed by the Parish and Town Councils.) In order to receive the loan, both Councils sought necessary consents from parishioners living in Ansford and those in Castle Cary.
Ansford Parish Council has proposed and resolved to apply for a loan of £72,000, representing 36% of the total loan. The interest rate on the loan from the PWLB would be at 4.75%, repayable over 20 years at £6,882 per annum. The resulting increase in council tax for a Band D property would be £12.78 per year or £1.07 per month.
The Council were obliged to seek the views of parishioners prior to our application being considered by the PWL Board, an explanatory letter was sent to every occupied home, together with a leaflet provided by Caryford Hall. The consultation period was held between 25th November 2023 until the 23rd December 2023. Consultation events were held at Caryford Community Hall on Tuesday 6th December 2023 from 5pm – 8pm, and also on Saturday 10th December 2023 from 10am – 1pm.
