On 10th April 2026, a timber pedestrian bridge was found to have been vandalised, and as a safety precaution, it has had to be demolished. The Somerset Council Right of Way ref no is WN2/4, ref Bridge no 11557, Issue #86244
With an increased number of defibrillators and bleed kits in Ansford and Castle Cary, an updated list has been produced showing locations and details about each item.
GWR have installed a temporary ticket/information office whilst extensive works are carried out to the building, starting on 23rd February, during a 12 week program to reinstate the original entrance/exit and the installation of new heritage style seating, lighting and enhanced signage.

We are pleased to announce that Somerset Council's Constitution & Governance Committee has formerly rejected the proposal to dissolve Ansford Parish Council. Your online response evidenced conclusive opposition to the merger and this was acknowledged by the committee. Well done Ansford!
Somerset Highways have announced that Station Road is now closed for preparatory investigations, at the site of the sinkhole, near Almsford Close. The times of the road closure will be 8.00am. to 5.00pm. - Mon - Fri., and the footpath will remain open at all times. Bus services to be diverted.
