Save Ansford Parish Council
A proposal is underway to dissolve Ansford Parish Council and then create a joint council with Castle Cary. Our flyer explains why Ansford residents should oppose it.
The village of Ansford is situated in an attractive rural setting with far reaching views, with a network of public rights of way footpaths linking neighbouring parishes. Although there are no commercial shops or pubs, there is a thriving Community Hall for social, entertainment and business events, plus indoor sporting facilities. More amenities are available in the adjoining town of Castle Cary, with its distinctive local shops, a weekly market, community library run by volunteers, post office and mobile bank (once a week). The town also has two free car parks that are supported by Ansford Parish Council. Both Councils have created a joint neighbourhood plan for the area and jointly own and manage Fairfield – a large green open space area with a number of recreational facilities.

At the Council Meeting held on 12th September, councillors unanimously agreed to support three strategic objectives, for the benefit of residents of all age groups within the parish. 1. Wellbeing & Safety. 2. Parishioner engagement. 3. Amenities & Community Benefit.
Congratulations Daphne Murrie, for entering Stonewater Housing's national garden competition, and winning the best award with such an attractive design. Starting, literally, with an empty space and after several months of hard graft, Daphne's vision has evolved into a really beautiful garden.
The recent artwork installation at Mulberry Meadows by Stonewater Housing provides a welcome focal point for this residential amenity space, that includes bench seating within a landscaped garden setting. The design of this high quality structure has local historical associations.
